Response for Judy

Judy,

I'm receiving your emails but for some reason when I try to reply back to you it rejects.  Is there another email you can provide me?

In response to your question, my sister Deborah and I were placed in the orphanage in 1958.  I was four and she was five.  We stayed there 7 years.  I was placed in an uncle's home as a foster son and she, along with my other siblings were placed in an aunt's home.  We stayed there for a couple of years until my maternal grandmother adopted us and changed our last name to Laton.

I'm currently working on a book about the history of the orphanage and my experiences there.  I'd love to hear from you about your memories.  One thing I hope to do is include memories from others in the book.

Please don't hesitate to call me.  My home phone is (334) 361-7783.

Dave

  1. I am a teacher at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School in Raleigh and a former student at both Cardinal Gibbons High School (Nazareth Property) and Cathedral School. I am just mow getting into the history of this property as we await the ground breaking for the new Cathedral Project. I have enjoyed reading everyones posts and I think it is neat that there is so much history at this spot. Dave- I would love to read your book when it is complete! Good luck! I hope this blog fulfills everything you hoped it would fulfill! God Bless!

  3. I don't think you would like my comments. The things my sister and brother and I were treated terribly. I would like to buy a copy of your book. The orphanage played a difference in our entire lives.

  4. I remember quite a bit of abuse that went on. Are you aware of this abuse and other bad things,i.e., deaths of students, etc. Or are you to afraid to delve into these matters.
